Candy is a 6 year old female that was raised
her whole life with her brother. When her
mom found out she was expecting her first
child she took Candy in to be put to sleep.
Candy was fortunate enough to be loved by a
wonderful vet tech who took her in. She
lived in an apartment with 2 children and 2
dogs and wasn't allowed to keep Candy, but
vowed to find someone who would.
Candy was then passed to someone who agreed
to get her started with her training and
find her a home. Unfortunately that person,
after 2 months, is moving out of state and
can't keep her any longer. Candy is now
desperately seeking her forever home.
Her foster mom says she is great with kids
and coming along nicely with her training.
She still pulls on the leash when she goes
for walks because she is so excited, but
soon calms down and walks nicely.
She does not like female dogs, but loves the
boys! Her foster home has two male rotties and
a female and 2 male terriers. She plays
with all 4 boys great but will try to fight
with the female.
Candy also has a moderate prey drive. She
has been taught leave it and is good at
minding if you catch her the minute she
starts to eyeball a cat, but if you let her
start after one you will have to intervene.
I don't know if she would hurt one, but
because of the possibility she can't go to a
home with small kids, very small dogs, or
cats.
Candy loves people and would be a good
therapy dog prospect. She loves pleasing
people and getting lots of love. The
perfect home for her would be with someone
with a playful male dog that is willing to
finish her training off and maybe look into
some therapy or obedience work.
